A PADDLING pool has been closed after it was trashed by "mindless vandals".
Brighton and Hove City Council announced the seafront children's pool in Kings Road will be shut for several days after broken glass and nappies were left by people over the weekend.
A spokesman for the council said: "To make the paddling pool safe for children and families to use again we have to drain and clean the whole system and ensure no broken glass, nappies or other rubbish remains."
The spokesman said the incident was "all very sad and upsetting".
"We hope to reopen the pool by Wednesday," he added.
"The playground is still open."
The trashing of the pool comes as vandals targeted beach huts nearby.
Huts near Hove Lawns were daubed with blue paint on Saturday evening.
The vandals struck the day after city council officials announced CCTV was being installed in the area.
Cameras are now watching over the protected lawns in a bid to deter people from leaving their rubbish.
The camera feeds are fed back to a control room and monitored.
