A THUG spat and coughed at police and carried out a nasty attack on a man.
Jamie Cornwall assaulted a man at Albourne Drive, Brighton.
The 35-year-old left the victim with “physical and emotional scarring”, a court heard.
Then, when he was being arrested he assaulted PC Christopher Lawrence by spitting at him and coughing at him.
Brighton Magistrates’ Court noted the victim was attacked on April 18 this year.
The victim, who The Argus is choosing not to name, was left shocked by the “level of violence” and damage caused.
Cornwall, of Ashdown Avenue, Saltdean, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assaulting an emergency worker.
District Judge Amanda Kelly ordered him to pay £500 compensation to the first victim and £200 to PC Lawrence.
The judge jailed him for 32 weeks, and put him under a restraining order for ten years not to contact the victim either directly or indirectly.
