A BOY has been arrested after an assault victim fought off his machete-wielding attacker.
The victim was walking along Glovers Lane, Sidley, just before midnight on Saturday.
Police said he was then "approached by a man" holding a machete.
The victim suffered minor injuries after successfully fighting the suspect off.
Police later arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted grievously bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of cannabis.
He was charged and will appear at Hastings Magistrate's Court on June 28.
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: "Officers investigating the matter are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened, or who may have captured any relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from the area at that time.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact police online or by calling 101 quoting serial 8 of 05/06.
"Alternatively, people can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
