DELIVEROO riders in the city will display pronouns on their bags as part of LGBT pride month.
The takeaway company's new delivery bags will make it clear if workers want to be referred to as he/him, she/her, they/them or some combination of terms.
The bags feature the slogan "Pronouns Matter" and a range of flags representing people from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities.
Designs also include the intersex, pansexual, asexual and collective progressive pride flag.
Deliveroo said it's "p'riders" were being given the opportunity to show their support this month.
Hadi Moussa, chief business officer at deliveroo, said the company was a "proud ally".
He said: "Pride 2021 is about embracing inclusivity and we are delighted to give our Deliveroo riders the opportunity to take to the streets with bags displaying Pride flags in a show of support for the community.”
A total of 2,500 UK riders will have the option to feature flags on their bags, produced by graphic designer Daniel Quasar, who recently reinterpreted the LGBT rainbow flag.
The brand has also launched its "school of allies" initiative online to promote better inclusion, support and awareness of the issues facing LGBT people in the UK.
The scheme was created by the company’s pride committee, which aims to protect and improve the lives of LGBT people working for Deliveroo.
A mini curriculum will also be provided for potential allies to help foster positive emotional and mental wellbeing for their LGBT friends, family and colleagues and to spotlight helpful resources.
