A DELIVERY driver has denied causing the death of a pedestrian at a busy city roundabout by careless driving.
Kamil Zieba is accused of causing the death of Jennifer Davies at Seven Dials in Brighton.
The 41-year-old appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court charged with driving without due care and attention which led to the pensioner’s death.
It was revealed he was working for delivery firm DPD at the time of the alleged incident on May 21 last year.
He spoke to confirm his name and address in court, and it was revealed he denies the charge.
During the hearing, Rachel Beckett represented the Crown Prosecution Service, while Zieba was represented by solicitor Stephanie Dale.
District Judge Tessa Szagun ruled that the case was serious enough to be tried only before the crown court.
The judge told the defendant he would need to attend a pre-trial hearing on July 2.
Zieba, of Waterloo Street, Hove, denies causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.
