A WORKMAN has been fined for driving with faulty tyres and brakes.
Adam Stone was stopped on the A27 at Firle in an Iveco tipper truck.
The vehicle was transporting a road roller, but the van was not roadworthy.
Brighton Magistrates’ Court heard how the Iveco had a “defective braking system”.
Meanwhile one of the tyres had a lump, bulge or partial tear caused by “partial failure”.
Two of the other tyres did not have enough tread.
The vehicle, operated by G Wood Construction Ltd, was also named in court alongside Stone.
Magistrates heard that a road roller was not secured properly on the vehicle, and that a “danger or nuisance was likely to be caused”.
The incident happened on February 10 this year.
Stone, of Blacklands Drive, Hasting, was fined £566, with a £56 surcharge and £85 costs. Three points was added to his licence.
G Wood Contractors Ltd, run by director listed as Mr L Wood, was fined £5,000, with a £181 surcharge and £85 costs.
Both Stone and the construction firm company admitted driving or using a vehicle when its use involved a danger or risk of injury to any person.
