A MAN has been arrested after a person was slashed in the head with a knife in broad daylight.
Police were called to reports of an assault in Chatham Place in Brighton on Friday at 8.25am.
Officers carried out an extensive search of the area and a police helicopter was scrambled to help.
The victim suffered a laceration to the head in the attack.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Sussex Police said no knife was recovered, and the victim and suspect are understood to be known to each other.
A spokesman for the force said: "The incident is being treated as isolated and there is nothing to suggest any threat to the wider community.
"Anyone with information or who witnessed what happened can report online or call 101, quoting 248 of 21/05."
