A PREMIER League football club gave children the opportunity to play on its pitch.
Brighton and Hove Albion’s official charity, Albion in the Community, hosted an event called Play on the Pitch that allowed over 200 children to play on the Amex turf.
The children were chosen from ten local schools along with participants of the charity’s disability football programme.
The Oaks Primary School in Loppets Road, Crawley won the under-11s tournament and took the Albion Cup with them.
Southwater Junior Academy in Worthing Road, Horsham won the under-9s mixed team trophy.
Rob Josephs, who oversees Albion in the Community’s work said: “It was great to be able to welcome ten schools from across Sussex to the Amex, in a long-awaited return to football and school competition.
“The smiles on faces and positive feedback from school staff shows how much the opportunity meant to everyone involved. It was a privilege to be a part of such a rewarding and successful event.”
The charity, which uses football to try and improve the health and wellbeing of the community, also held a three-hour training session for over 100 children and adults with a disability. The session was then followed by a friendly tournament.
