AS MANY as six fire engines are at the scene of a house fire in the city centre.
People are being urged to avoid the area, as fire crews from across the county tackle the blaze in Shaftesbury Road.
Firefighters from East and West Sussex Frie and Rescue Series are at the scene.
Six appliances are in attendance and the road has now been closed, as firefighters tackle work to extinguish the fire.
Pictures from the area show smoke billowing from the building, and an aerial ladder deployed.
