A SUPERMARKET has launched an investigation after a large amount of its rubbish was dumped in a Brighton park.
The Co-op said it would be speaking to its contractor after appalled residents found items, which appeared to be from its Lewes Road store, in East Brighton Park.
The store's name appeared on a flytipped cardboard box, one of a number of items discovered by residents yesterday.

Trolleys, a filing cabinet and a National Lottery stand were also among the "shocking" amount of dumped materials.
A spokesman for Co-op said: “We are investigating with our contractor how the materials came to be discarded and we are sorry that they were not correctly recycled or sent for disposal.
"Immediate steps have been taken for the materials to be collected.”

The Twitter account for the Brighton Naked Bike Ride tweeted: "Co-op would you please investigate and hold accountable those of your employees/contractors responsible for flytipping a massive amount of rubbish in East Brighton Park?
"Address labels, shop signs, trolleys all clearly indicating your Lewes Road shop.
"Truly shocking."
