A BURST pipe left homes without water last night.
Shortly before 9pm, Southern Water said “third party damage” to a nine inch water main was causing outages to the Shoreham beach area.
A spokesman for the company said: “Our teams are already at the site of the damage and are working to clear around the burst so a new piece of pipe can be fitted.
“We can’t say how long it will take to fix and recharge the main but we will keep you informed of progress.”
At about 9.45pm, Southern Water workers were making “good progress” on the burst main affecting water supplies.
Residents in the area report waking up to the restoration of water services this morning.
“The water supply has been restored, thank you for your efforts,” said one Twitter user.
“Yes, big thanks to those out there fixing it. No thanks to whoever caused it in the first place,” said another.
The Southern Water spokesman told residents he was “sorry for the trouble this has caused”.
