In a post on social media, Brighton and Hove Palestinian Solidarity Campaign called for people to “spread the word” and join their protest movement.

Yesterday, hundreds of protestors took to the streets with placards and banners to call on the British Government to condemn Israel’s actions.

Some campaigners climbed onto a ledge just above the base of the tower and hung a banner which read: “Save Shekih Jarrah – Stop All Israeli Ethnic Cleansing.”

While it was not planned, demonstrators then marched down North Street to the Old Stein and then to Brighton Station before returning to the Clock Tower at around 8pm.

Similar events also took place in London, Glasgow and Blackburn.

The protests have been organised in response to the worst violence seen in Jerusalum for years.

Hundreds of Palestinian protestors have been wounded in clashes with Israeli police.

More than 20 people have been killed in Gaza following fighting between militants and Israel, violence has surged into the occupied West Bank and Arab communities inside Israel have held demonstrations.

Palestinians in the Shekih Jarrah neighbourhood were forced to leave their homes following a decision by the Israeli Supreme Court.
