THERE were 41 new cases of coronavirus confirmed across Sussex in the past 24 hours, down from 48 the previous day.
Official figures from Public Health England show there were seven more cases recorded in Brighton and Hove as of 9am yesterday, up slightly from five the previous day.
It brings the total number of cases recorded in the city to 14,552.
The rate of infection in Brighton and Hove now stands at 5,003 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 6,856.
In East Sussex, there were ten more cases over the period, down slightly compared with the previous day, when there were 12.
It means there has now been a total of 30,578 cases in the county.
There were 24 more positive cases confirmed in West Sussex, down from 31 the previous day.
In total, 41,913 people have now tested positive in the county since the pandemic hit.
The 41 cases recorded across Sussex were among the 259 new cases confirmed in the South East - up slightly from 250 the previous day.
There has now been 540,073 cases in the region.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 2,381 over the period, taking the total figure to 4,416,623.
Yesterday there were 15 deaths recorded nationally, within 28 days of a positive test.
It brings the total death toll to 127,517.
