Royal Mail reveal May bank holiday weekend schedule for UK

But those expecting deliveries, or needing to send post, may be wondering if Royal Mail will still be in action.

Is there post this weekend?

There will be postal collections or deliveries as usual on Saturday and Sunday. 

However, on Monday there will be no collections or deliveries.

Deliveries and collections will continue as normal on Tuesday.

When are post offices open?

Some Post Offices may close their doors on bank holidays, however select local branches – including those inside convenience stores – will be open.

You can check your local branch’s operating hours via the Royal Mail’s branch finder.

Royal Mail has been dealing with high demand throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

It has updated customers with the latest information on services and delays.

It explained potential delays have been caused by resourcing issues across the country.

The firm has introduced some changes to operations in order to run more effectively during the coronavirus pandemic.

As well as introducing more safety measures, the postal service has adjusted opening times and rules for customers.

A statement said: "Throughout the pandemic, and now, we remain open for business.

"To manage the effects of coronavirus-related absences and necessary social distancing measures, such as reducing the number of people together in shared spaces and vehicles, we have implemented a range of mitigations.

"These include changing the time guarantee on Special Delivery items and updating opening hours of Customer Service Points at local delivery offices."

The delivery service has posted an update on how it is running this week.

It explained it is delivering and collecting mail as normal in most parts of the UK.

This year, DPD Local ranked as the best delivery firm for the first time. Previous poll winner DPD dropped to second place. In third place came Amazon Logistics followed by Royal Mail in fourth.

MoneySavingExpert.com shared the results of its latest poll, which asked those who have used specific couriers to rate their experience.

The poll ran in early January and asked users to rate their experience over the previous year. 

In the survey, 11,440 people voted and the delivery companies were ranked either by "great", "ok" or "poor".
