A MAN was restrained by police in full view of punters as they sipped on pints outside a nearby pub.
Officers arrested a man on suspicion of stalking involving fear of violence in Buckingham Street, Brighton, at about 2.30pm.
Two police cars attended the scene, and passers-by reported hearing shouts of "you're in trouble" as the man was detained.
The whole incident happened just metres from people trying to enjoy a quiet drink outside The Edinburgh pub, on the corner of Buckingham Street and Upper Gloucester Road.
One witness, who asked not to be named, said: "I heard shouting and saw five or six police gathered around a man they were trying to restrain and arrest.
"The shouting was coming from another man who was being verbally abusive.
"He was yelling, 'you're in trouble', to the police officers while waving his phone in their faces, presumably to take pictures of them."
"All this was happening just yards away from people trying to enjoy a quiet pint in the sunshine."
Sussex Police confirmed a man had been arrested over a stalking offence.
A force spokeswoman said: "Officers attended a property in Buckingham Street, Brighton, on Friday, April 23, and arrested a man on suspicion of stalking involving fear of violence.
"As of 4.45pm, he remains in police custody."
