THE pandemic has been devastating for us all but it has also brought countless stories of resilience and kindness.

Lots of heroes have emerged, not least in Sussex and The Argus has been glad to report on them. Now lockdown restrictions are being eased it is the perfect time to shine a light again on those who have gone the extra mile to help others.

The Argus is inviting all readers to nominate their local hero. The winner will receive a £100 shopping voucher.

Do you know someone such as Claire Stone, from Brighton, for example? At the start of the outbreak, she noticed people in the supermarkets with empty trolleys as they were thwarted by panic buyers.

The 32-year-old began collecting donations of food and essential items to create care packages for the vulnerable and she was soon swamped with offers of help

Nominations for the competition close on Sunday, May 2, and later you will have a chance to vote for your ultimate hero.

Send your nominations to “Argus Local Hero” Unit 1 Brunel Court, Brunel Way, Severalls Industrial Estate, Colchester, Essex CO4 9XP.
