An ELDERLY man has died after falling ill at a golf club.
There was a large emergency response to the incident with police, paramedics and fire crews all called to Peacehaven Golf Club yesterday morning.
But the man, in his eighties, could not be saved.
Images of the scene showed several critical care cars parked at the golf club, along with an ambulance and a fire engine.
A blue tarpaulin screen appeared to have been erected to shield paramedics from view as they worked.
Police have since confirmed that the man could not be saved, and his death was confirmed at the golf club.
A Sussex Police spokesman said; "On Tuesday morning a local man in his eighties became ill while playing golf at Peacehaven Golf Club in Brighton Road, Newhaven.
"Despite the best efforts of police and paramedics, he was sadly confirmed dead at the car park. There are no suspicious circumstances and no further police involvement.
"His next of kin are aware."
