A busy town centre road is currently blocked after a crash.

There is disruption to Brighton and Hove Buses services through Lewes as a result of the incident on the A277 High Street this morning.

A spokesman for the bus company said: "Lewes High Street is closed due to an accident. All number 28 and number 29 services are diverting via the A27 and Cuilfail Tunnel in both directions until further notice."

The AA says the crash involved two vehicles, but traffic is "coping well" despite the blockage of the road.

A spokesman said: "The road is partially blocked due to a collision involving two vehicles on the A277 High Street both ways from the Rights of Man Pub to the A2029 Fisher Street. Traffic is coping well."

"The road has now been cleared and the junction of School Hill and Lewes High Street has been reopened.
