LIFEBOAT crews have heralded the "lucky escape" of two people on board a sinking speedboat who were rescued by a passing vessel.
Shoreham Lifeboat Station crews were tasked with retrieving the wreckage of the sunken boat near the entrance to Shoreham Harbour yesterday afternoon.
A spokesman for the service said: "Both lifeboats were launched to a small speed boat sinking close to the entrance of Shoreham Harbour yesterday afternoon.
"A passing vessel rescued two people who had been on board from the water and took them ashore.
"The lifeboat crews checked the area and collected wreckage from the sunken boat."
