A manhunt for two suspects has been launched by police after a young man was stabbed and left fighting for his life.
The police helicopter and ground units are now searching the East Preston area following the violent incident in Sea Road this afternoon.
Officers, alongside ambulance crews, were called to the scene at about 4pm following a report of an assault.
There, they found a man in his 20s who had sustained a "potentially life-threatening stab wound to the abdomen". He has been airlifted to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Emergency teams remain on the scene and a section of Sea Road has been cordoned off by police.
Officers, along with the police helicopter, and now searching for two suspects who are believed to be on foot in the East Preston area.
Investigating officer Detective Inspector Alan Pack said: “We are conducting a number of fast-time enquiries to identify the suspects in this matter.
"The victim is in a critical condition and we are determined to locate those responsible.
"Did you witness the assault? We urge anyone with information to get in contact with us without delay.
"We have stepped up patrols in the area while enquiries are ongoing."
