A CITY centre development has reached a major milestone.
Two of the buildings being constructed as part of the £120 million mixed-use Edward Street Quarter project have, as the project gets a step closer to completion.
The development, on the site of the former Amex House building just off Grand Parade, aims to provide a neighbourhood in the middle of Brighton with new homes, public green spaces and offices.
Steve Eccles, project director at developer First Base, said: "Topping out two of the buildings was a very exciting step forward for us.
"Brighton’s newest neighbourhood looks set to be completed by early next year and we cannot wait to welcome the community and tenants to this new area, which will provide a home to businesses, residents and cafes, as well as gyms, bars and restaurants."
The Edward Street Quarter development aims to provide 110,000 sq ft of office space in order to "attract creative businesses, ambitious start-ups, entrepreneurs and established companies".
There will also be a further 39,000 sq ft of space which will be filled with food and drink vendors, gyms, cinemas and retail units.
The developer says it is pleased with progress on the site which has been made, despite the challenges posed by operating during the pandemic.
The next stage of the development will be "The Clubhouse", a roof space which offers views over the city.
Work has also started on "Two Edward Square", a "contemporary, high specification workspace".
