A BOMB disposal squad have been called to a home in Hastings.
Officers were called shortly before 9pm yesterday to a report of a device at a property in Delaware Drive, St Leonards.
It was suspected to be an unexploded ordnance shell.
The area was secured until Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams were able to attend and remove the item to be destroyed this morning.
Pictures taken at the scene show police cars and a bomb disposal truck parked on the street.
A spokesman from Sussex Police said: "Police were called shortly before 9pm on Thursday to a report of a device – suspected to be an unexploded ordnance shell – found at a property in Delaware Drive, St Leonards.
"The area was secured until Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams were able to attend and remove the item to be destroyed safely."
