1. Bardsley's, Baker Street

Established in 1926 Bardsley's is so popular there's usually a queue out the door. 

With a rating of 4.6 and 480 reviews on Google this has got to be one of the highest rated and most popular fish and chip shops in the region. 

One reviewer said: "Delicious fish and chips. By far the best in Brighton! 

"All the staff are wonderful and very friendly."

Another added: "Bardsley’s is a fantastic, traditional fish and chip shop. I think it's the best in the world! 

"I grew up in Brighton but now live overseas but I always come here when I visit."

2. Fillets, Lewes Road

Fillets has a large menu with something for everyone and you can even pre-order and get delivery to beat the queues. 

One local visitor said:"Best battered sausage and steak and kidney pie in Brighton! 

"No polystyrene packaging either so hurray for less rubbish! Lovely staff and very affordable."

Another said: "Simply best chippy in Brighton. For a Yorkshireman the mushy peas are delicious."

"This must be best fish and chip shop in the Brighton and Hove area, light crispy batter over an extremely large fluffy white piece of cod, the chips were soft and not fatty at all, struggled to finish the portion," reads one five-star review for this popular takeaway. 

Another person said: "Delicious chips & gluten free batter for the halloumi sticks was fantastic."

4. Tammy's Fish and Chips, The Drove

This fish and chip shop has impressed its customers with 166 reviews and a 4.7 rating. 

"Always top quality fish and chips. The best in Brighton," one review says.

Another said: "Delicious fish and chips, cooked fresh to order.

"The cod was perfectly cooked, with a crispy thin batter. Homemade chips are also cooked to perfection!

"Recommend giving them a call and pre-order for collection on busier nights.

"Delicious fish and chips. Order by phone and pick it up - freshly cooked at the stated time. Excellent service and great staff," says one regular visitor. 

Another said: "After getting recommended quite a lot of times, I said I would give it a try.

"I think that was the best choice I have made as the fish and chips are so nice and tasty.

"I would say the best in Saltdean, Brighton even in the whole uk!

One reads: "Best fish and chips ever! Crisp batter, not soggy underneath, flaky fish, yummy chips."

Another review said: "Everything about my experience was perfection.

"The staff were friendly and helpful. The food (the most important part) was fresh, crispy and hot - portions generous.

"The presentation was very good. So good in fact a passer-by commented on how good it looked and asked where it was from. Can’t wait to return!"

One reviewer said: "Really helpful staff and great service, have been going regularly for over a year."
