A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after he was found in the street with serious head injures thought to be sustained from a group attack.
Police were called to the scene on Whitebeam Road, Worthing, shortly before 7.30pm this evening.
The victim was airlifted to Royal Sussex County Hospital by a helicopter that is understood to have landed in Longcroft Park.
Officers believe he was assaulted by a group of four teenage boys.
Enquiries are now ongoing to locate the teenagers.
A spokesman from Sussex Police said: "Police were called Whitebeam Road, Worthing, shortly before 7.30pm on Sunday after a man was found in the street with serious head injuries.
"He has been taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
"It is thought the victim was assaulted by a group of four teenage boys.
"Enquiries are now ongoing to locate the suspects.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact the police online or call 101 quoting serial 1077."
