VIDEO captures the moment the Royal Navy exploded a “mortar bomb” at a beauty spot.
The force was called in to help Mid Sussex Police after a member of the public tipped them off about the suspected bomb on Devil’s Dyke.
Sussex Police shared a video yesterday afternoon of the dramatic explosion.
A spokesman said: “Many thanks to our colleagues from the Royal Navy who came to Devil's Dyke after we received a call from a member of the public saying they had found a mortar bomb in the area.
“The device was safely detonated.”
Inspector Darren Taylor added: “That's two reports in two days.
“Although the first report turned out to just be a metal pole thankfully.”
