CCTV footage shows the moment a man in a balaclava broke into a secondary school to steal cash inside.
The burglar went to St Paul’s Catholic College in Jane Murray Way, Burgess Hill earlier this month.
It was reported that the thief stole items from the school.
Crime scene officers were at the premises on March 17 to gather clues and forensics left behind.
At the time Inspector Darren Taylor said: “St Paul's Catholic College, Burgess Hill was broken into last night and various items stolen by the thieves.
"We are investigating the incident.”
It was later confirmed by sources that no items were taken from the school, but the thief did steal cash.
The college said: "The school is working closely with Sussex Police to support the investigation."
Footage shows the figure approaching the school building. It is hoped that someone recognises him from his clothes or demeanour.
He wore a gilet style jacket and a balaclava and was carrying an object in his hand, perhaps a crowbar.
Sussex Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses to a burglary at a college in Burgess Hill.
“Between 2am and 3am on Wednesday, March 17, St. Paul’s Catholic College in Jane Murray’s Way a man broke into the building and stole a quantity of cash.
“Police are investigating lines of enquiry and would like to speak to the man in the CCTV footage in connection with the incident.”
