STUNNING pictures capture the moment beachgoers were treated to an impromptu fire show amid record-breaking March temperatures.
Thousands descended to Brighton and Hove’s beaches yesterday following the easing of lockdown measures to enjoy the spring heatwave.
As the sun went down opposite the West Pier, people relaxing on the shingle were entertained by fire spinners performing routes in front of the crowds.
Lisa Francesca Nand from the Big Travel Podcast was among those watching on.
She said: “I was sitting with some friends nearby and noticed the gathering around the fire performers down by the West Pier, starting around 6ish I think and going on until about 8.30 when the tide had started to come in.
“The low tide at sunset was glorious and the fire performers made it even more atmospheric.”
UK temperatures hit record-breaking highs yesterday with crowds rushing to the beach to soak up the sun.
Highs of 25.6 degrees were recorded in Cambridgeshire - the highest temperature recorded in March since 1968, according to the Met Office.
St James’ Park in London saw highs of 24.2 degrees, while in Brighton the mercury reached 19 degrees.
As of Monday, people are allowed to meet outside in groups of up to six, or as two households.
