I HAVE just read about Green councillor Jamie Lloyd and his "impassioned plea" about raising recycling rates ("Councillor says ban sachets", The Argus, Tuesday, March 23).

This is highly amusing/annoying when you consider the truly awful recycling collection schedule that many Brighton residents have to suffer.

Here in Saltdean, I cannot remember the last time our collection was on time, that’s how often collections are missed. I regularly have to go to the communal site (also often overflowing) when my bin becomes full and I know many who simply get so fed up that they resort to putting their recycling into their normal refuse bin.

Sort it out and I think your recycling rates will improve.
