THERE has been 123 new cases of coronavirus confirmed across Sussex during the weekend.
According to the latest Public Health England figures released this afternoon, 37 new cases were recorded in Brighton and Hove since Friday.
It brings the total number of cases recorded in the city since the pandemic began to 14,274.
The rate of infection stands at 4,907.1 per 100,000, significantly lower than the UK average at 6,432.3.
In East Sussex, 31 more people tested positive during the period. It brings the total number of cases recorded in the county to 30, 247, and the rate of infection stands at 5,428.1 per 100,000.
West Sussex saw the biggest increase, as its case numbers rose by 55 over the period. It means 41,120 people have now tested positive for the virus in the county.
The rate of infection is 4,759.4 per 100,000.
The figures are among the 828 new cases confirmed across the South East since Friday, and there has now been a total of 529,487 cases in the region.
Nationally, today's figures show 5,312 new cases recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the UK's total figure to 4,296,583, since Covid-19 began.
Across the UK, 33 more Covid-19 fatalities were recorded, with 28 days of a positive test.
It means the national death toll now stands at 126,155.
