WHAT a lovely summer scene – mums and children digging in the sand on Brighton beach.
It was taken in about 1953 and it must have been a very low tide for them to get beyond the pebbles.
We have another 1953 picture from The Argus archive today.
It is thought to be the interval of a Brighton Tigers ice hockey game at SS Brighton, which was at the bottom of West Street.
The young riders appear to be normal bicycles so it is doubtful they remained upright for very long.

Our final picture today is an older shot and is something of a mystery – but it’s so great it has to be included.
This passionate pair were pictured in about 1936 but we don’t know where. Perhaps a uniform expert could tell us more?
