AS part of a new monthly series The Argus is charting every crime in Sussex on an interactive map for readers to stay on top of what is happening and where.

This month, our map reveals the area of every crime reported to Sussex Police in January 2021.

Readers can use the online tool to see what happened near their homes, schools and places of work and build an understanding of the county's crime hotspots.

In Brighton, some of the highest concentration of crimes in the new year can be found around the Preston Park area, most of which are classed as violence and sex offences, drugs or criminal damage.

The map does not show the exact location of the crime. The police data shows the offence occurred on or near that location. 

Over 4,000 incidents were recorded in Brighton at the start of the year. Other hotspots can be seen in Bognor Regis and Eastbourne.
