Electricity supplies at homes in the Wisborough Green area cut out late last night due to a fire involving a pylon.

Fire crews were called to Butts Meadow shortly after 10pm and stayed at the scene for more than three hours as they brought the blaze under control.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a fire involving an electricity pylon and sent teams from Billingshurst and Petworth to deal with the incident.

Firefighters set up a cordon around the flames and urged people in the area to remain indoors while they worked to extinguish the fire.
