COULD this be your opportunity to work in a real-life Honeydukes sweet shop from Harry Potter?

Oliver’s Harry Potter shop in Trafalgar Street, Brighton, is looking to hire a wizarding enthusiast to work in its new sweet emporium.

Owner Oliver Dall said the ideal candidate should be someone fun and enthusiastic, with tons of imagination.

To apply, candidates are asked to send in a CV and answer one, simple question – If you could be any sweet in the world, what would you be and why?

Oliver, 29, said he has already received hundreds of applicants for the position and has been amused by some of the responses.

He said: “The applications that are really interesting are the ones who go to town on that question.

“Someone has written a two-page essay and that was amazing.

“Some people have done drawings and some people have done manuscripts and made plays.

“People have gone crazy and that’s what is standing out.”

Oliver’s has been supplying the people of Brighton with broomstick and butterbeer since 2017.

The opening of the sweet emporium is the latest magical transformation to take place at Oliver’s.

After reopening following the first coronavirus lockdown, the store launched an advanced booking system which allows customers to book a 30 minute private shopping experience.

Oliver said it is important for business to “evolve” to ensure their survival on the high street.

He said: “At Oliver’s Brighton we’re some of the lucky ones and hopefully we’re going to be OK. We have a following and we’re ready to reopen.

“We’re fully booked on April 12, which is fantastic, however, we do no need to evolve.

“The more we can offer the more money we can take which allows me to keep my staff members and make sure it’s a viable business.”

To make way for his latest delicious venture, Oliver has split his store in half with the sweet shop occupying the front of the shop.

He said: “It won’t just be Harry Potter sweets. The idea is every type of sweet imaginable, from across the world, will be in the store.

“There will be Japanese sweets, a wide array of American candy sweets and many others.

“There are Nintendo sweets that we are going to get in and Sonic the Hedgehog energy drinks.

“It’s basically a sweet emporium that will be all geeky, fandom sweets and lush tasting sugary goodness.”

To apply, email a CV and a response to the aforementioned question to spell@oliversbrighton.co.uk

Oliver's Brighton is fully booked on April 12 but has avaliability from April 13 onwards.
