A SUSPECTED drug driver was caught with blood running from his nose as he drove down a one-way street the wrong way.
Mohamed Mecherki was driving in Brighton at the time of the incident.
But when he was stopped by the police the 33-year-old refused to provide a blood or breath test.
Brighton Magistrates’ Court heard how the driver had “blood coming from his nose” which was believed “likely as a result of ingesting cocaine”.
Court documents show Mecherki was “driving the wrong way down a one-way street”.
He showed a “deliberate refusal to provide a specimen for analysis in circumstances where he could have endangered his own life and the lives of others”, the court heard.
Mercherki, of St Michael’s Road, Bournemouth, was given an eight-week suspended sentence.
The court ordered him to complete 40 hours of unpaid work and 12 rehabilitation sessions.
He must also pay a £128 surcharge and £85 costs. He was banned from driving for two years and six months.
