Data released by property website Zoopla this week revealed that 70 per cent of Brighton homeowners want to move to a new property.
For many, this was due to a desire to find somewhere a bit bigger with a home office.
A staggering 43 per cent of the homeowners surveyed said they will "continue to work predominantly from home".
Representatives for Zoopla said there were plenty of options available for prospective house-buyers in Brighton and Hove with some interesting properties on offer.
Though it might not boast any office space, one of the most eye-catching is this two-bedroom houseboat in the Western Concourse at Brighton Marina (above and pictured throughout).
The vessel is fitted with a kitchen and wet-room, as well as a saloon with bi-fold doors that lead out to a deck overlooking the water.
A description on the Zoopla website reads: "This well-presented 28ft Marina Boat offers all you need for a Brighton bolthole by the sea.
"Take in the marina views from the delightful saloon with bi-fold doors leading to the deck. The kitchen comes equipped with a microwave/combination oven, fridge and four-ring induction hob with solid wood work surfaces.
"The two double berths are tucked cleverly into the hull and the boat has a convenient wet room with bio-digestor toilet.
"On board there are 12v and 240v systems and underfloor heating. The boat is being sold with soft furnishings, custom-made bedding, blinds, TV and fenders.
"The vibrant marina complex is just minutes from Brighton's city centre but, on the site, there is a delightful range of bars, restaurants and facilities including a convenient supermarket and a David Lloyd gym."
Offers in the region of £132,500 are currently being received for the houseboat.
The Zoopla listing also asked those interested in the vessel to get in touch with the property company and quote "Marina Boats" for further details about mooring.
A move to the property could mark a notable change for a homeowner in Brighton and Hove, making the switch from living on solid ground to residing in a floating home.
But research from Zoopla found that a change may be on the menu for many, with people's wants and needs shifting considerably during lockdown.
While working from home during the coronavirus pandemic, two-fifths of surveyed homeowners saved more than £100 per month on travel costs, with one in 20 saving more than £500 per month.
Zoopla's head of research Gráinne Gilmore said: "With the daily commute looking very different for many and all but gone for more than 50 per cent of homeowners in Brighton, it opens opportunities for homeowners to reassess their property needs, and also their location.
"This is driving an increased desire to move. The savings on offer from less frequent commuting for work can also transform people's budgets, meaning some homeowners may be able to afford a bigger move than pre-lockdown, further propelling their dream of finding a new home."
James Pepper, director at Brighton estate agency Lextons, agreed that the possibility of finding a property with more space was playing on the minds of people in Brighton and Hove.
He said: “There’s no question that lockdown has really dialled up the desire for Brighton homeowners to find a new property. In many regards, lockdown has unleashed latent demand for more space across the city.
"Whether it’s looking for additional space for a home office, a bigger garden for family time or an annexe for a child to return home or a parent to move in, the desire for new property has skyrocketed since April 2020.
"We expect this trend to continue as lockdown restrictions look set to stay in place for the next few months."
