There is excitement ahead of the opening of a new The Range store set to open in Sussex.

The retailer is currently on the hunt for staff with the new site expected to open its doors to customers in late April.

It will occupy the former Roche Diagnostics site, near the Lidl store in Drove Road, Newhaven.

Councillor James MacCleary, leader of Lewes District Council and local councillor for Newhaven South heralded the arrival of the store as evidence of the progress the town is making in attracting retailers.

As a result, he said he as "very much look forward to the store opening".

Cllr Macleary said: “Our town is a brilliant place to live and work. I know a lot of people in town are excited about The Range moving in and it is just another example of the fantastic recent progress we’ve been making.

“This is another great news story for Newhaven on the back of recent success such as the Future High Streets Fund bid, our £24.7m Towns Fund bid and free parking provided in the town centre.

"Newhaven is an exciting place to be with projects such as the transformation of Railway Quay coming online.

“This new store will bring employment of up to 50 part-time and 35 full-time posts which is fantastic for our local economy, opening up job opportunities for people who live in the town and nearby within Lewes district, alongside broadening our retail offer.

"As a Newhaven resident, I very much look forward to the store opening at the end of April.”

The Range is currently advertising online for roles at the new Newhaven site.

These include positions as a sales manager, warehouse assistant, warehouse supervisor, department supervisor, retail assistant, cleaning assistant and customer service assistant among others.

The job advert for the role of customer service assistant reads: "As a result of our expansion plans and our continued ongoing success we are looking to appoint a full time Customer Service Assistant.

"In this role you will be the face of The Range delivering great service and promoting The Range as a unique one-stop shopping experience.
