A RETIRED teacher has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting boys at the prestigious Salisbury Cathedral School.

Piers Le Cheminant faces charges over alleged incidents between 1965 and 1986, including at another school.

The 75-year-old appeared at Worthing Magistrates’ Court via videolink on Tuesday afternoon.

Le Cheminant, of Spitchwick Manor, Poundsgate, Newton Abbot, Devon, is also accused of indecently assaulting boys at Oakwood Preparatory School in Chichester.

He is charged with a total of 15 offences of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14, according to the lists.

Le Cheminant entered no pleas and the case was sent for a hearing at Portsmouth Crown Court on March 16.

The prosecution follows an investigation by detectives from the Sussex Police Complex Abuse Unit.

Salisbury Cathedral School dates back more than 900 years and is located beneath the spire of the famous cathedral.

It is one of the oldest educational establishments in the world and was founded in 1091 by St Osmund, Bishop of Salisbury and nephew of William the Conqueror.
