A FAMILY home in a quiet street has been cordoned off after a woman was found dead.
Police were called to Watermill Lane in Bexhill at 1.45am today.
It followed concerns raised for a woman at the £260,000 property.
But sadly after officers attended a woman in her 70s was found dead.
It has caused shock for neighbours in the area, who have been asking what has happened.
Police say a man in his 70s, known to the woman, was arrested in connection with the incident.
He was found with “significant injuries” police said, and has been taken to hospital in a “serious” condition.
Detectives are now working at the scene to find out what has happened.
Crime scene investigators in white overalls have been seen at the semi-detached property.
Meanwhile a large tent has been set up in the front garden, and uniformed officers are protecting the scene.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Friday said: “This is being treated as a tragic isolated incident and at this stage we are not looking for anyone else in connection to it.
“We are asking if anyone who has any information which could help us with our investigation to contact us.”
Anyone with information can call 101 or report to Sussex Police online quoting Operation Woodhouse.
