A WOMAN reported missing earlier this week has been found dead, police say.

Sussex Police appealed to find Clare Kirkbride who had gone missing from Eastbourne.

It is understood that she had gone missing from home on Sunday, and it was reported to the police on Tuesday.

Now officers say Ms Kirkbride, 60, has been found deceased.

Police made three urgent appeals to the public about her whereabouts.

Her family has been told, and the coroner has been called to investigate the circumstances of her death.

In a short statement Sussex Police said: "We are saddened to report that missing Clare Kirkbride, 60, from Eastbourne has been found deceased.

"Her next of kin have been informed and the coroner’s officer is continuing enquiries into the death.

"Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time."
