A CITY centre New Look store has served its last customer.
Bosses have confirmed the large site in Western Road, Brighton, will not reopen once coronavirus lockdown measures are eased.
The store shut as the third national lockdown forced non-essential retail to shut in a bid to stop the spread of Covid-19.
In recent weeks, it has been cleared out with all stock and fittings removed from inside the building.
The Argus contacted New Look with regards to the future of the site, and was told: "I can confirm our Brighton store on Western Road has permanently closed.
"We don’t have any further information to share on this."
The confirmation came shortly after it was revealed that the flagship Topshop and Topman store in nearby Churchill Square would also not be reopening.
Online fashion retailer ASOS sealed the takeover of Topshop, Topman, Miss Selfridge and HIIT from the collapse of the Arcadia retail empire for £265 million.
It said its acquisition of the four brands will "resonate" with its core customer base of "20-somethings" in the UK.
ASOS told investors yesterday morning that it will take on around 300 employees as part of the deal, but this does not include any of the brands' stores.
As a result, thousands of jobs have been axed.
Administrators for Sir Philip Green's retail group said Asos has paid an additional £65 million for current and pre-ordered stock.
Arcadia collapsed into insolvency at the start of December after pandemic closures further exacerbated the group's troubles.
The Argus contacted the Arcadia Group for comment, and was told that all Sussex sites currently closed due to lockdown laws will not reopen once these are eased.
This includes the flagship store in Brighton's Churchill Square shopping centre, as well as sites in Worthing, Crawley, Eastbourne, Chichester and Horsham.
