POLICE have warned that drivers will be slapped with Covid fines if they continue to swarm to a Sussex beauty spot.
Rother Police said "too many" people made the trip to Camber Sands yesterday and officers were ready to take action to stop a repeat event.
Police Community Support Officer Georghiou was one of the officers watching over the area.
In a post on Twitter, he wrote: "Too many persons are using their cars to travel in order to get away from home.
"This is unacceptable in the current climate and offenders will be fined. Stay home, stay safe."
Current lockdown rules state: "You must not leave or be outside of your home except where you have a ‘reasonable excuse’.
"This is the law. The police can take action against you if you leave home without a ‘reasonable excuse’, and issue you with a fine (Fixed Penalty Notice).
"You can be given a Fixed Penalty Notice of £200 for the first offence, doubling for further offences up to a maximum of £6,400."
One of the "reasonable excuses" is for a short exercise session once each day.
But "you should not travel outside your local area" for this.
