EASTBOUND trains are not stopping at Worthing Station due to flooding.
At about 7.20pm, Southern Rail announced that flooding is affecting the station’s subway.
The underpass that connects the station entrance at Worthing with platforms 1 and 2 is flooded.
It is not possible to reach the platforms so trains towards Hove will run non-stop through the station until further notice.
The local station manager for Worthing is aware and has arranged for drainage workers to attend and pump the water away.
Because of this, people travelling in the Hove direction – and need to get off at Worthing Station – should stay on the train until East Worthing or Lancing, before turning back.
Disruption is expected until 10pm.
A spokesman said: “Due to flooding of the subway at Worthing station, trains towards Hove will not call at the station.
“If you are travelling in the Hove direction and need Worthing, please stay on the train and change at East Worthing or Lancing for a train back.
“West Worthing or East Worthing stations may be closer to your destination so you should consider alighting at an alternative station.
“We have regular trains that serve both East Worthing, West Worthing and Lancing so no changes will be made to stopping patterns at this time."
If you're travelling from Worthing towards Hove, Brighton, or London
Take the first train that comes from platform 3, which is not impacted by the flooding, and change at West Worthing for a train back towards either Brighton or Hove.
Going via West Worthing will add up to 30 minutes extra to your journey time.
Advice if you're travelling to Worthing
If you're on a train and are coming from the Barnham or Littlehampton direction, you won't be able to get off at Worthing as the train will be running non-stop.
Stay on until Lancing station. Change at Lancing for a train back towards Worthing.
This will likely add up to 30 minutes extra to your journey time.
