MORE than 100 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Brighton and Hove in the last 24 hours.
Public Health England figures show that 12,996 people in the area had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Friday, up from 12,891 the same time on Thursday.
That is a rise of 105 over the last 24 hours.
It means the rate of infection in Brighton and Hove now stands at 4,468 cases per 100,000 people, still far lower than the England average of 5,865.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 29,079 over the period to 3,772,813.
The city’s cases were among the 474,976 recorded across the South East, a figure which rose by 4,072 over the period.
In East Sussex, 282 have tested positive for the virus over the last 24-hour reporting period.

Public Health England figures show that 27,771 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Friday, up from 27,489 the same time on Thursday.
The rate of infection in East Sussex is now 4,984 cases per 100,000 people.
In West Sussex, the number of recorded coronavirus cases increased by 357. The rate of infection there is now 4,130 cases per 100,000.
Across the UK, recorded cases increased by 29,079 over the period to 3,772,813.
