DOES Phelim Mac Cafferty realise his arrogance is bringing the Green Party into disrepute and ridicule?
As a cyclist I was perfectly happy with the original cycle lanes but putting an extra one alongside the existing cycle lane on the seafront was totally unnecessary and all it achieved was to alienate all users of the seafront road against the cyclist and the party.
If a new lane was to be built, why not on the promenade where cyclists are currently prohibited?
I feel sorry for the residents on the Old Shoreham Road who have found themselves alongside a gridlocked road following the "temporary cycle lane" installation.
Brighton and Hove have the some of the highest air pollution roads in the country but still the Greens don't realise it is their policies that are causing this. They simply do not understand that schemes like the Valley Garden have caused gridlock and extra traffic in the nearby roads.
What did they expect merging both London Road and Lewes Road into one single file lane? Yes, I cycle up the centre of the gardens but look across and see the chaos this road scheme causes, especially when a delivery vehicle has to stop. Who designs these systems?
I would love to have seen a tram system being part of any new transit system and Valley Gardens, Old Steine and Madeira Drive would have been the perfect starting point.
I, along with some of my colleagues, used to support the Green Party but how can we possibly support a party that portrays us as incapable of running a city.
My neighbours quite rightly ask what has this administration achieved? They constantly remind me the party refused a park and ride scheme, have falling recycle rates, have increased pollution because of inept road designs and throw money at projects like the i360.
My advice to you Mr Mac Cafferty is resign before you do more damage the party and the city.
