BUS services are to be temporarily reduced to focus demand on key workers’ journeys.
Brighton and Hove Buses will introduce a revised timetable from Sunday, with an emphasis on maintaining services for key workers and those making essential journeys.
The bus company said passenger demand has been falling due to coronavirus and government advice for people to only make essential journeys.

Brighton and Hove Buses managing director Martin Harris said services will be temporarily reduced by about ten per cent.
He said: “This level of service supports those who need to travel while maintaining social distancing.
“We have kept changes to a minimum, continuing to provide a good, regular service on most routes and protecting journeys for key workers.
“Fewer journeys will operate on some routes but we are making sure we run buses at the times when they are most needed.”
Mr Harris reminded passengers to always wear a face covering for their entire journey, unless they are exempt.
He said: “We understand some passengers are exempt from wearing a face covering. If that applies to you, it would really help our drivers if you showed your exemption card or lanyard when you board.
“At the same time, I’m asking everyone to be kind and respectful towards those passengers who cannot wear a face covering. We won’t tolerate hate crime on our buses and that includes verbal, as well, as physical abuse.”
Passengers are encouraged to maintain social distancing and to pay with a contactless card or mobile phone, rather than cash.

He added that many passengers have sent supportive messages to bus drivers during the pandemic, and said these have boosted morale during a difficult time.
He said: “I know these messages have brightened up their day and reinforced how vital their work is.
“One lady thanked a driver for taking her to hospital to get vaccinated. Moments like that keep our drivers going.”
