A DISTRESSED SEAGULL was rescued by a security guard after getting itself stuck between balcony railings.
Jamal Danso captured the moment he freed the bird at a seafront property in Percival Terrace, Brighton yesterday.
In the clip, he can be seen placing his hand around the seagull’s ensnared neck to coax it from between the metal bars.
The animal traps itself again, leading Jamal to free the bird for a second time before it finally flies off.
It can then be seen flying into the distance, seemingly unscathed by its ordeal.
Jamal said the owner of the property had alerted him to the bird, which he said had been trapped since Sunday.
He said: “I love animals and could not see any animal being treated badly, so I decided to rescue the seagull and let it be free.”
The RSCPA said people should contact them directly if they find a trapped bird.
A spokesman for the charity said: “We are glad that this bird was rescued and was able to fly away.
“We’d advise anyone who spots sick, injured or trapped wild animals in need of help to contact our emergency hotline on 0300 1234 999.”
The rescue comes just days after West Sussex Fire and Rescue were called to help a seagull that was trapped in fishing wire in Gossops Way, near Crawley.
The seagull was stuck 25ft up in the air, in a tree overhanging a lake.
