SUSSEX Police have explained why a force helicopter has been circling low over Brighton and Hove this afternoon.
The chopper was scrambled to assist ground teams after a vehicle failed to stop for officers in Manor Road, near the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
The helicopter was seen circling over Brighton Station and Valley Gardens, while residents in Hove also reported seeing it overhead as crews scoured the city between 2.40pm and 3.30pm.
Sussex Police say the incident is ongoing amid efforts to trace the vehicle and its driver.
A spokeswoman said: "At 2.22pm on Friday (15 January), a vehicle failed to stop for police in Manor Road, Brighton.
"Enquiries are ongoing to trace the suspect and the police helicopter has been called to assist.
"This incident is ongoing and no further details are available at this time."
