THERE was a large police response to an incident late last night.
Officers flooded into Brighton Road in Worthing at about 9.30pm yesterday.
Police cars lined the street as the force dealt with the incident.
One passerby, who did not wish to be named, said they had seen a woman arrested at the scene.
A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: "A woman was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage in Brighton Road, Worthing, at about 9.15pm yesterday.
"The arrest came after officers on patrol in a marked police vehicle stopped to check on the welfare of a woman displaying concerning behaviour.
"The officers did not suffer any injuries. The woman remains in custody at this time."
