MORE than 1,000 coronavirus cases have been reported in Sussex in 24 hours.
Cases in West Sussex increased by 795. In East Sussex, they increased by 345 and Brighton and Hove’s total rose by 221.
Their totals are now 16,491, 13,819 and 6,541 respectively.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 50,023 over the period to 2,432,888 – of which 8,140 were in the South East.
There were 981 deaths reported within 28 day of a positive test, making a total of 3,497 in the last seven days.
The number of deaths is the highest since April
Another 2,430 people were admitted to hospital, increasing the nationwide total to 23,771.
Of those, 1,847 are on ventilation.
The first coronavirus deaths in four days have been recorded at Brighton and Sussex Trust, the latest figures show.
NHS England figures show 228 people had died in total at the hospital trust.
Almost a dozen new coronavirus deaths have been recorded at East Sussex Trust in the latest 24-hour period.
There have now been 218 people who have died at the trust.
