A SEETHING thug put a man in hospital after he was taunted about his father being branded a “nonce”.

Brandon Miah was “incensed” by the alleged “disparaging” comments made by his cousin in St Leonards.

He wanted to find his cousin and went to his grandmother’s home.

When he arrived the 23-year-old was told to calm down by his uncle Christopher Peters and his gran Rosemary Locking.

Miah pummelled Mr Peters, 52, leaving is uncle in hospital for a month with broken ribs and a broken cheek.

Mr Peters suffered complications that left him on a ventilator after the attack in July this year.

At Lewes Crown Court, father-of-two Miah admitted inflicting grievous bodily harm and was jailed for two years and two months by Judge Janet Waddicor.

Edward Hand, prosecuting, said the “sustained and repeated assault” happened in Norfolk Drive, St Leonards on July 16.

Miah “rained down a series of blows” upon his uncle Mr Peters, who was vulnerable because he has undergone brain surgery in the past.

In a statement to the court Mr Peters said: “I have survived two brain operations. I did not deserve this from a family member.

“I did not provoke this, it was all unnecessary. It has been a nightmare.”

It was revealed Miah’s cousin, also called Christopher Peters, had apparently taunted him about his birth father being in prison for sex offences, the court heard.

Kevin Light, defending, said his client has battled depression, aggression and anger management problems since he was a child.

He said: “There can be no justification for why this incident happened. The background is that the victim’s son, who also happens to be called Christopher Peters, had been making disparaging remarks about my client’s father.

“His father is in fact serving a prison sentence for sexual offences. Christopher Peters called my client’s father a ‘nonce’ immediately beforehand. He had had a call from Christopher Peters who made those disparaging remarks. My client simply lost his temper.”

Miah, of Hurrell Road, St Leonards, was told he will serve half of the sentence, he was put under a restraining order not to make contact with Mr Peters’ family or attend addresses in Hastings and Bexhill.
